| Antique Kayseri Silk Rug, Turkey, late 19th century - Small shrubs enclosed by an undulating serrated leaf trellis are staggered across the delicate sandy saffron field of this lovely little antique Kayseri rug. The saffron trellis barely stands out against the slightly darker field, making the design appear clearer and less dense. A different, arabesque vine design fills the border whose ground color, however, is the same as the field. The terracotta minor borders provide the requisite framing effect. |
