Antique Kaitag Embroidery, late nineteenth century A grande circular medallion of concentric borders dominates the field of this splendidly graphic antique Kaitag embroidery from the Caucasus. Short sections of this form appear above and below, with smaller space fillers in the remaining areas of the field. The sharp, spontaneous and dynamic drawing for which Kaitags are famed appears here in full force. The palette of soft terracotta, green, and red nicely contrasts the boldness of the design.
